Well, hello everyone, and welcome back to the DivaZat Care. My name is Candace Gish. Today I have the pleasure to interview Beth Parrish. Beth is just an amazing woman that has been a part of the Divazat Care now for quite a while now. She's actually been interviewed by one of our other hosts, Joyce Benning. So I'm excited to be able to interview her today. Beth, welcome my program today. Thank you so much. I'm so happy to be here. Oh my goodness. I am just so excited to be able to chat with you because we've never had that opportunity. Yes, so am I.
SPEAKER_01I'm just really grateful to be a part of all of this.
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, thank you so much. We are very grateful that you have submitted your story. But before we kind of dive into that, Beth, would you mind introducing yourself to my listeners?
SPEAKER_01Of course. My name is Beth Lauren Parrish. I'm a certified riding instructor and I started teaching back in the year 2000, just after I graduated college. I was um at UNC Chapel Hill and I got a degree in international studies and was really on the track to maybe even work for the United Nations. And I decided to take a summer off and just have some fun and and start teaching horseback riding because that was my passion. And then after that summer, I decided that was it. I had to do it. So I became a certified instructor. I've been teaching since 2000, so about 21 years now. I have a certification through CHA at level three for both English and Western riding. And just this past year online I uh became certified as an equestrian Tai Chi instructor. So I have a lot of different skills to offer people and I do teach remotely. I do have clients locally, and I absolutely love what I do, and my business is called Inspired Riding.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love that, Beth. That is so amazing. I had the opportunity to grow up on a horse ranch, so I love when I talk to other horse people, so that is amazing. Oh, that's so cool that you got to grow up with them. I did, and it was always a pleasure. So I want to ask you, Beth, why did you decide to submit your story into our anthology?
SPEAKER_01Well, I love you know, reading compilations of stories about animals and I thought it would be just so neat to I I love writing. It's one of my favorite things besides writing. And I thought it would be so neat to share one of my stories so it could be part of something big that that warms other horse lovers' hearts.
SPEAKER_02Oh well, I'm excited. It's an amazing story and I think it's perfect because right now I really feel that animal stories are what people need to read. For myself, it's always been the animals that have brought a smile to my face and realizing everything is gonna be okay.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely true. I I could have said it better myself, so yeah. We we need to talk more about animals in general and I think those will be better. I think so too. So tell me Beth, what is your story about? My story is about what I call the unicorn search. So I had been through a ton of different traumas over the past six years and I was finally ready physically, mentally, emotionally, to find my new little dance partner. I say little because I'm only five feet and I was on a search for a quote unquote steady unicorn, a a little guy that would take care of me. And and it was quite it was quite the um experience meeting him and I was just so excited to create this story and um show it in a way that would really display how different our meeting was and what I did differently uh as opposed to what I used to do when I'd meet horses and try them out and this is what made it extra special.
SPEAKER_02And how has this impacted your life?
SPEAKER_01Meeting Pepper, my unicorn, um has totally given me complete hope and brought back the joy in my life that was missing because I had you know, I had uh all the traumas like I mentioned, we had lost our home to a fire, I had four different surgeries within five years and we were um you know, living paycheck to paycheck for a long time and things were just really scary for a while and we finally got to a place where we could own a home, have property for the horses, and then I finally recovered from all the different surgeries. Only two, thank goodness had to do with horses. But um I was just so excited to be able to start riding and I took my time and when I finally found him it was like oh you know, you could you could just feel everything was lined up the stars are aligned and we hit it off from the first ride and it was just magical and ever since then I could I could honestly say he's changed my life for the better because I've learned how to be a better horseperson because I've really been adamant about making sure he wanted to do the things that I wanted to do. So it becomes a co-creation. It's not just, hey, you're gonna do this with me. It's like, hey, would you like to do this? So I've learned how to be a better horse person by inviting him instead of making him doing two things and our relationship has blossomed better than any other any other horse I've had.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. And it is so inspiring and you know that's why I was so excited to have the opportunity to interview you myself because I thought, you know, once everybody hears a little bit about your story, they're gonna want to go out and read the rest of it.
SPEAKER_01I hope so. It's it's quite the story, so I'm excited for people to check it out.
SPEAKER_02One of the things I always love is that when I had the opportunity to read these stories, I could see how impactful they were to a person's life and how they really have changed them. Do you want to share about any stories about your other animals that you have in your life?
SPEAKER_01Well, sure. I I could tell you about my first heart horse, which was Diffie, and I I mentioned it in my in my story briefly. But um what's amazing is I had him about 13 years and he and I taught thousands of lessons together. I mean, we were like an old married couple. I mean, we knew what each other was going to do before we did it. And you know, I'd give beginner lessons on him, and if a a little child was off balance, he would halt and return and look at me like, get them to balance right, lady. It was so funny. And so he and I were simpatico and I could hop on and he would do anything I'd want. And then, you know, the beginner would get on, of course, like I said, and he would stop if they were off balance or if they lost a stir, things like that. And we were just, you know, two peas in a pod. And when he passed, I was I was numb for a while, and I wasn't even sure I wanted to keep teaching. And so it it took a while to get my traction again. But the beautiful thing is also being an animal communicator, I was able to tune in with him um energetically after he passed, and I've always felt like he's watching over me. And at one point I was listening to the radio, and he uh sent me this song Happy by Pharrell, and he said, I want you to know I'm happy. I had a happy life with you, and I'm happy now. And so anytime I hear that song, excuse me, it just makes me think of him. Yep. And uh he he definitely helped in the search to find Pepper, and when I tuned in with Pepper the night before he came to our house, he told me that he, Biffy, and my other heart horse keeper had come to him and and gave him a heads up that I was really gonna take him home. And so that was a huge confirmation to hear that. It was so beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for sharing that. I love that. And I just want to do a big shout out just to our listeners out there. Beth has quite a few amazing programs on the Divaset Care. And because you've just kind of mentioned this, I want everybody to go and check out those recordings on those programs. And I'm gonna be doing a link, I think, to that because I I really love your programs that you've you've had on the Divaset Care, and I'm just so very thankful that you are now a part of this ontology with all of us.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much. I'm very grateful to be part of it as well.
SPEAKER_02Beth, before we end, uh would you mind sharing uh how our listeners can get a hold of you?
SPEAKER_01Sure, the easiest way is to go onto my website. It's inspiredriding, r-id-ind-d dot com. And you can go to the contact page and send me an email. I'm also on Facebook. We have a wonderful group with over 1,600 members. Um, so if you just search Inspired Riders on Facebook, you should be able to find it there.
